Home Equity Loans for College Financing
With banks and lenders still being tight with credit approvals, many families are trying to find a way to pay for all of the costs of the childern(s) annual college education. Surprisingly, some families are turning to home equity loans to meet the “financial aid gap.”
Private student loans are still being offered by large banks and leading student loan companies, though they have tightened their credit standards, so students almost always need a co-signer (usually a parent or relative) to be approved for private alternative student loans in this current economic slump. Parents and guardians that actually still have equity in their home are finding a home equity loan from a local bank or credit union is sometimes a cost effective way to secure needed funds for college.
