Private Student Loan

Private student loans most often come from the remaining top student loan companies, and they are not part of the Federal family of education loans from the Department of Education. Repeat: private student loans are not federal loans. Some private loans for college students are still available from leading banks and student loan companies. Before applying for a private student loan – make sure you know exactly what you are getting in to. Yes, that means reading ALL terms and conditions AND understanding them.

Reviewing the terms and conditions with an account for just fifteen (15) minutes, you will become more knowledgeable about borrowing, spending and repayment. Many college students have their parents co-sign for a private student loan.

Students should try to obtain as much Federal grants, aid, loans and scholarships before turning to private college loans. Interest rates for private loans are higher, and often require repayment while the student is still in school (which is a good thing as the borrower will owe less upon graduation.)
